How to Identify Your Revel Generation

There are many different styles of Revel, each with their own unique systems. Using the year of the van can be confusing: the Revel year is separate from the Sprinter chassis year. Newer Revels come in a few different versions for each year. Because of this, at RoamRig we group Revel styles by generation, which can be quickly identified by the control panel.

Your Revel Generation

Look at the control panel above the bench seat. Match it to one of the panels below. For 2024 and later Revels, identify your van based on the control panel and the bench seat orientation.

Heads up! Winnebago's internal terminology for grouping vans is also by generation, but it has some differences from our as-easy-as-it-gets system described below.

Stock 1st-3rd Generation Revels

1st Generation Revel
comes with AGM batteries mounted under the chassis

2nd Generation Revel
comes with 2x 125ah lithium batteries from the factory

3rd Generation Revel
comes with 1x 320ah lithium battery from the factory

1st Generation Winnebago Revel Control Panel

2nd Generation Winnebago Revel Control Panel

3rd Generation Winnebago Revel Control Panel

Stock 1st generation control panel components are mounted directly to the wall (not a black panel). These systems have a switch with two green buttons for the inverter.

→ 1st gen Revel upgrades

The stock 2nd generation control panel is very similar to 3rd generation vans. EXCEPT 2nd generation vans do have a xantrex battery shut off button.

→ 2nd gen Revel upgrades

This includes 2025 Sport 44N Revels. The stock 3rd generation Revel control panel has all components mounted to a black panel. The control panel does NOT have a xantrax battery shut off button (highlighted in 2nd generation photo).

→ 3rd gen Revel upgrades

Recent Revels: Sport 44N, Sport 44C, 44E, 44EC

If your control panel matches one of the graphics below, then you must also note the bench seat orientation to identify your Revel.

2025/26 44E (has forward-facing bench seat)
2026 44EC (has sideways bench seat)

comes with Lithionics Batteries (8.4 kWh 51V) and Ecoflow Power Hub

2026 Sport 44N (has forward-facing bench seat)
2025/26 Sport 44C (has sideways bench seat)

comes with Ecoflow Batteries (5kWh 48V) and Ecoflow Power Hub

These Revels have a tall control panel with a new Timberline all-in-one large touch screen controller and multiple zones. The house batteries are Lithionics brand.

Currently, the only RoamRig upgrade for these vans is the Beatbox Blackbird stereo. We are looking into replacing Ecoflow Powerhub and batteries with other components to allow for fast charging.

These Revels have the older Timberline heating system with a small touch screen controller and one zone. The house batteries are Ecoflow brand.

Currently, the only RoamRig upgrade for these vans is the Beatbox Blackbird stereo. We are looking into replacing Ecoflow Powerhub and batteries with other components to allow for fast charging.

Existing 3rd gen plumbing MAY work however we have not seen one in person to evaluate, and plumbing diagrams are not yet available online for this model for us to determine whether our existing plumbing kits will work.

RoamRig Control Panels

If your control panel matches either of the images below, with labeled switches and a round Victron gauge, you've got a RoamRig power system. Nice!

1st generation Revel
with a RoamRig power system

2nd and 3rd generation Revel
with a RoamRig power system

Labeled switches, round Victron gauge, Rixen thermostat and Espar heater code reader

Your Sprinter Model

If upgrading your van will include modifying any of the Mercedes Sprinter components, such as adding a Beatbox Blackbird stereo, then it's crucial to identify your Sprinter model to check compatibility.

All 2nd generation and later Revels are built on the VS30 Sprinter. However, 1st generation Revels were built on both NCV3 and VS30 models.

NCV3 Sprinters

VS30 Sprinters

NCV3 Sprinters have a small screen with buttons on both sides and rectangular vents.

Note: the Beatbox Blackbird stereo upgrade is only compatible with NCV3 Sprinters that have a RoamRig power system.

VS30 Sprinters have a much larger touchscreen, round vents on either side and cup holders.

Why This Matters

Referring to your Revel by year can lead to errors! The Mercedes Sprinter year and Winnebago Revel year don't necessarily match. That leaves a lot of room for error, particularly if someone is not already very familiar with Revels.

When it comes to uplifting your van or asking for advice, what matters is the INTERIOR build out content from Winnebago (generation) and the CHASSIS year. So, always refer to your Revel by Generation and Mercedes year: "1G/19M" or "3G/22M" or "2G/21M" where G is generation, and M is Mercedes year as determined by your VIN number only.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if my control panel doesn't match any of these?

Contact RoamRig directly and we'll help you identify it. Sharing a photo of your control panel is the fastest way to get an answer.

My title says 20XX — why does RoamRig say I have a 20XY Revel?

Your DMV likely pulled the year from your Mercedes VIN, not the Winnebago build date. The two don't always match. Always use the control panel to identify your Revel generation, and your VIN to identify your Sprinter chassis year — not your title or registration.

Why doesn't my Revel year match my Sprinter year?

Mercedes manufactures the Sprinter chassis, and Winnebago builds the Revel on top of it. They operate on independent release cycles, so a Revel model year can be one or even two years ahead of the Sprinter chassis it's built on. This is why year-based ordering leads to wrong parts.

Where do I find my Mercedes VIN year?

Your VIN is on the driver's side dashboard (visible through the windshield) and on your registration.
